I Got My First Hydra Facial Ever – Here’s How It Turned Out!

It’s been over a year since I began my skincare journey proper and it’s been such an exhilarating experience.

I never imagined that I’ll be consistent and so conversant with skincare ingredients and products but here we are.

Recently, I took things a step further and allowed the skin professionals give me a good pampering… Yes I got a facial for the first time EVER in my life.

I tried as much as possible to document the whole experience.

You can check it out on my IGTV channel.

Before that, let me give you a low down on hydra facials and why you need to get one ASAP!

What is an Hydra Facial ?

According to Instyle, “… the HydraFacial is a medical-grade resurfacing treatment that clears your pores out, plus hydrates your skin.

Unlike the facials an esthetician would usually perform by hand, it’s done using a medical-grade device that pulls debris out of your pores.

Instead of blasting your skin smooth or squeezing gunk from your pores, the esthetician uses this device to suction dirt, oil and other impurities from your pores.

The gentle suction also acts like a massage, stimulating circulation and boosting your overall glow.

What happens during a Hydra Facial?

Like every skincare treatment, the HydraFacial starts with Cleansing by removing the dead skin cells and excess sebum from the skin.

Next, exfoliants are applied to the skin to break up any dirt and oil that’s clogging pores.

Then, the HydraPeel Tip is used to essentially vacuum out blackheads, dirt, oil, and impurities, while hydrating, plumping, and nourishing serums are simultaneously applied to the skin.

In my own case an ayurvedic face mask (a mix of Turmeric and possibly honey) was applied as the last step.

I also got to try the LED face mask therapy somewhere in between.

Why should I get a Hydra Facial?

Although this was my first time getting a hydrafacial I was super pumped because of the reviews I read on the Internet.

Apparently an Hydra Facial is highly recommended for the following reasons:

  • Hydrafacial caters to all skin care needs and skin types. So it’s pretty much for everyone even those with sensitive skin.
  • It is totally painless so you don’t have to worry esspecially during extractions.
  • The treatment can be customised to your specific skin concerns. This means specific actives and serums can be used depending on your skin type and issues.

  •  You’ll notice hydrated, plump skin immediately after your facial, and with regular treatments, you can also expect minimized dark spots and a reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Where can I get a Hydra Facial and at what cost ?

I got my own facial at a Spa on the mainland – Glitterings Health Beauty and the price is N15,000.

I haven’t checked out other places to do a comparison but if you have any recommendations please feel free to leave it in the comments.

I’m so glad I got to experience this. I shared my thoughts and feedback in the  video below so please take your time to check it out.

Feel free to send in your questions and recommendations either here or on my social platforms.

Until next time,

WanShyGirl.

  1. Really nice. I’m one of those people that just wash their face and move on with life. But seeing this is making me think about putting in some effort into my face and skin as a whole
