The last time I wore a beret was definitely six years ago, while I was still in secondary school (read as High school). Hence, it’s comeback to the fashion scene hit me like bandadadang. Like, I didn’t hexperrit!
Hi guys, I’m back with a quick one! I can’t keep apologizing for my inconsistency on here so please keep up with me on social media @WanShyGirl.
Pronounced /be rei/ not / beh:rett/; this soft, flat, round shaped hat has been associated with members of the church choir, selected secondary schools, men in uniform and most especially the French folk.
The beret comes in different colours and textures but the popular ones are made from wool and leather.
How then did the beret become a fashion trend in 2017?

Dior started it then Rihanna further endorsed, and we all know anything Riri endorses is final.
The Beret trend has travelled over the seas and as the saying goes “Nigerians nor dey carry last“.
From the runways to Fashion Week the beret trend has come to stay.
Here are some of your favourite style stars rocking the trend…
Grace Alex – Grace has actually been a huge beret connoisseur way before the trend wave hit. So it’s safe to call her a trendsetter eh?
Thonia Bankz – Thonia definitely killed it in this ensemble she wore to the #LFDW17 plus she’s also sporting another trend – The Fanny Pack, but let’s focus on the beret today.
The LazyOutfitter – My girl Vicky came through at the #GTBFashionWeekend sporting two trends in one outfit. Can you spot the 2nd trend?
Cassie Daves – I love how Cassie went all monochromatic on this one. Plus, this photo came in handy as she only just put up this look on her blog.
The Style Train – For guys who are willing to jump on this trend, Abidemi is totally your go-to inspiration.
Personally, the beret died for me in high school plus I’m not one to follow trends. Hence, I’ll stick to my fedoras, baseball caps and visors.
Is this something you’ll wear though?
If yes, whose style will you be taking a cue from?
I’ll love to hear from you.
Till next time (as the spirit leads),
WanShyGirl.

Yay! That’s me! But one thing I don’t like about this beret trend or wearing anything even scarves on my head is coz of pains. I feel like it’s sucking my blood. Lol! But leather beret is lit though!
