Bringing Back the 70’s: Styling Bell Bottoms and Boot-Cut Pants.

Currently Listening to – Wizkid ft. Drake – Come Closer

Hi guys,

Welcome to the blog once again, Who missed me or did anyone even notice my absence? I announced in one of my IG posts that I was taking a weekend blog break yet I didn’t get the rest I really needed. Why? You ask, well I was away for an event (I talked about it, here) and I’m here to share the deets of my outfit. I also have two guests in this post, so keep reading.

Last weekend, 3rd June 2017, I was opportune to attend the first edition of the Lagos Leather Fair and I’m glad I was a part of it. I dragged my sister and a friend along and after all the whole masterclasses and workshops we spent the rest of the day taking photos.

Bootcut pants and Bell Bottoms were big in the seventies and they have totally made a comeback on our current fashion scene. I talked about the bell bottoms come back in one of my first posts and I styled denim boot cut pants here.

I won these pants in a giveaway and even before I got them, I already knew how I was going to style them. The pants have a matching top yet I love to style co-ords as separates.

I paired my bell bottoms with a basic black shirt and minimal accessories because the pants already make a statement. I also wore a pair of sandals made by yours truly and my black satchel, not pictured yet previously styled here, to create that minimalist – neutral look.It was quite coincidental that my sister and I opted for pants from the seventies. She paired her boot cut (not to be mistaken for palazzo pants though they look similar) pants with a vintage inspired top, jelly flats, minimal accessories and a satchel. Minimalist chic was definitely the theme of the day. Here are things to keep in mind when styling this kind of pants, especially those with a pattern.

  • Wear a fitted top, your pants and top can’t both be loose.
  • Avoid wearing too many accessories, your pants already draw attention.
  • Go for footwear with a little height as you don’t want your pants sweeping the floor.
  • Keep it simple and chic.

That’s it, guys. I’ll be styling the matching top in subsequent posts and these pants just might make a comeback too. Check out more pictures after this and find out who my second guest on the blog is.
